Join the SSOW as we participate in the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge. As one of the first A250 and NC First in Freedom Festival events, this year will be a major focus of attention! We will have an information table on Friday and Saturday, and serve lunch to the volunteers.

About the event

The A250 / North Carolina First in Freedom Festival at Moores Creek National Battlefield commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge, a decisive Patriot victory that helped shape the course of the American Revolution and affirmed North Carolina’s place as “First in Freedom.”


Held on the historic battlefield where the conflict unfolded, the festival brings together history, culture, and community through a multi-day program of living history demonstrations, educational programs, and commemorative ceremonies. Visitors can experience period encampments, colonial crafts, and costumed interpreters who bring the Revolutionary era to life, alongside ranger-led talks and guided tours that explore the battle’s significance and its lasting impact.


Festival days include special programming for students, formal remembrance activities honoring those who fought at Moores Creek, and a family-friendly community celebration featuring music, art, and hands-on activities.
