About the event
For the first time in a long time, SSOW is hosting a true cèilidh! Join us for live music and traditional Scottish social dancing with the band Skyrie, straight from Fife, Scotland!
A cèilidh (KAY-lee, from the Gaelic word for "gathering" or "visit") is a traditional Scottish social event built around live music, storytelling, and dancing. Historically an informal community gathering, the term today is closely tied to the lively group dancing at its heart, danced to reels, jigs, and strathspeys, with a caller walking everyone through the steps before the music starts. Dances like the Gay Gordons, Strip the Willow, and the Dashing White Sergeant are cèilidh staples, energetic and designed for mixing and moving with the whole room. No experience or partner necessary; all steps are taught on the spot!
Admission is $15 per person, free for SSOW members*. BYOB, and a food truck will on site!
